I enjoyed this trip very much! Having a CEO like Jorge greatly enhanced the experience. All travel went like clockwork. His cheerful enthusiasm and sincere pleasure in our company and enjoyment made the trip for all of us.

This was an amazing tour! There were so many optional things to do, so if I wanted to keep busy and active I could. And if I wanted to relax or do my own thing, I could do that as well. I highly recommend coming to Antigua early for an extra day or two, and staying a day or two in Playa del Carmen to visit Chichen Itza!

I am absolutely glad I took this trip. The people, and the variety of experiences, I could never have put together on my own. We had an excellent CEO, Ana, who added so much to the trip with her enthusiasm and knowledge and acceptance of all of us. I appreciated the contact that we had with local people, getting a feel for how they live and work. I loved visiting the ancient ruins and hearing stories from local guides. I loved the nature experiences we had with snorkeling, caving and hiking. And beyond that we had a great group of people of varying ages and points of view. It was special to share that time with them.

Loved working with all my CEOs, they had different styles but were all knowledgeable in their regions and helpful to the group. Pay them more. Seriously, they aren?t getting paid enough for what they have to do.

I had an absolute blast on this adventure and would not hesitate to recommend the trip. This was my 6th G Adv tour and I will certainly be back for another one! Anahi was the perfect CEO, our group was so much fun, and I can't believe how much we saw and experienced in a short amount of time. I have made memories that I will never forget.

Excellent

The Geluxe Yucatan tour was nice. Our guide Alonso was exceptional! The Hacienda and float down the Sian Kaan were the highlights of the trip. I was disappointed to not have a hotel on the beach for the last two nights. This type of tour with many meals included would be good for someone who is traveling alone and would like to be with the group more. If I traveled solo I would consider Geluxe tours again, but if I travel with my husband it will be another Nat Geo or classic tour.

Best time to visit Mexico

The best time to visit Mexico is from November to April, during the dry season. These months offer warm temperatures and clear skies, perfect for beach vacations, outdoor activities, and exploring historic sites. This period avoids the heavy rainstorms of the summer, particularly in coastal regions. The high tourist season falls from December to March, especially during the holidays and spring break, so expect larger crowds and higher prices during this time. For a quieter experience, the second-best time to visit is in May, before the rainy season starts. Although temperatures can be hot, it offers fewer tourists and better accommodation deals.

For a seasonal overview, check out our guide on the best time to visit Mexico.

Optimal duration to explore Mexico

The ideal duration for a trip to Mexico is around 10 days, allowing time to explore diverse destinations. You can visit Mexico City for its historical sites and vibrant culture, then head to Teotihuacán’s ancient pyramids. Spend a couple of days on the beaches of Tulum or Isla Mujeres. Include a visit to Chichen Itza and explore Oaxaca’s rich heritage. For those with less time, 7 days can still offer a fantastic experience. Focus on one region—such as Mexico City and nearby Teotihuacán—or enjoy the Riviera Maya with a mix of beaches, ruins, and natural attractions.

Packing essentials for a trip to Mexico

For a trip to Mexico, pack lightweight, breathable clothing suitable for warm weather. Include a hat and sunglasses for sun protection. If visiting coastal areas, bring biodegradable sunscreen and insect repellent. Comfortable shoes are essential for exploring ruins and hiking. Don't forget a refillable water bottle, as tap water isn't always safe to drink. A daypack is also handy for excursions.

Sustainable travel practices when visiting Mexico

When traveling to Mexico, adopting sustainable practices can minimize your environmental impact. Start by carbon-offsetting your flights with Singapore Airlines. If you book through Bookmundi, your tour will be carbon offset from start to finish. During your time in Mexico, consider donating to Fondo Semillas, a network dedicated to conserving sea turtles along the coast. Always wear 100% biodegradable sunscreen to protect both your skin and marine life—many destinations won’t allow access to those using chemical sunscreens. Opt for eco-friendly transport like cycling, walking, and kayaking to reduce emissions. If not possible, rely on public transportation to minimize your carbon footprint.
