Austria Trips and Tours

Austria is perhaps best known for its world-class musical concerts, with links to composers like Mozart and Beethoven. However, this European country also offers delicious strudels and top-notch skiing opportunities. We recommend touring the imperial palaces and Danube-side streets of Vienna - or head West to Salzburg, with its hilltop castle and beautiful gardens. You may even recognize them from the movie ‘The Sound of Music’! View our Austria tours below.

Excellent

Excellent. Great people, very good itinerary, excellent CEO. Hard to know which Christmas markets would be best ? but that is part of the journey. Great to have had the concert in Vienna and the unique opportunity for a Krampus run. I chose the Vienna to Berlin for personal reasons but would do it again as the cities at beginning and end are wonderfully different.

Excellent

Great tour would just want on night in Nuremberg to spread it out a little but overall had a great experience and the hotels were exceptional! Markets were great and there was so much food to try!

A great trip and great ride. Hotels were all very nice and comfortable. We used ebikes so we had more time and energy to stop and look around the towns we visited.

We thoroughly enjoyed the Hungarian Rhapsody ride from Vienna to Budapest this past August. We loved the self-guided option as it gave maximal flexibility on timing and options for excursions along the way. The bags were always at our hotel prior to our arrival, most hotels were better than expected (though we did pay for the upgrade), and the cycling routes allowed us to explore both touristy areas as well as the countryside "off the beaten path". We enjoyed the option for 1/2 board however would prefer to have more options for dinner (ie dine in the cities when there are ample options). There were a few map/timing glitches but overall we really enjoyed this trip; I would definitely do another.

We thoroughly enjoyed our walk in the Austrian Lakes. They organised all of our accommodation, and luggage transport, and provided us with good track notes, and local suggestions of what to see and where to eat. We would book through them again.

The Austrian Lakes walking trip was beautiful and very fun. We enjoyed visiting all the different towns. The route instructions were mostly good, but lacking in a few important areas - fortunately my hiking partner used Ride with GPS which helped immensely in finding our correct way. We did the "lower hotel star" accommodations tour, where we changed towns and lodging everyday because we liked that route better than the Four Star itinerary which had several layover days.

Austria Tours - Highlights and Travel Trips

Seeing the stunning mountain ranges you saw in “The Sound of Music” movie is not the only reason for a holiday in Austria! The city of Salzburg in Austria feels almost unreal with its modernity and urban sophistication smoothly blending into the nature that surrounds it. Wherever you go in Austria from its capital Vienna to the small suburban villages, the view of Austria’s sky scraping mountains will not escape your sight. If you love seeing castles and ruins, Austria has a plenty of magnificent castles including the world famous Castle Hohenwerfen. This is a country which always ranks high in the lists of peaceful and trouble free countries in the world. If you are a first time traveler, a solo traveler or travelling with small kids, Austria will be the perfect destination for your next holiday.

Travel Tips

  • Don’t let the lack of turnstiles fool you - public transit in Austria is NOT free. The routes run on an honour system, but you’ll be faced with a hefty fine if caught travelling without a ticket.
  • Jaywalking is not only frowned upon in Austria, it is illegal. Don’t risk it, especially if there are police nearby. Always wait for the light or find a zebra crossing.
  • Bring your sweet tooth! No trip to Austria is complete without trying an apfelstrudel. Other must-try national foods include spätzle, a cheesy egg noodle dish, and weiners schnitzel.
  • Sunday is a day of rest in Austria, and the locals take it very seriously. You may find it hard to find an open shop on a Sunday.
  • Even though they speak the same language, do not make the mistake of assuming Austrians are Germans. They have separate cultures and even speak in different dialects.
  • Austria is surrounded by other countries. If you’re looking to expand your European travels, you’ll often find inexpensive bus links to Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovenia and Slovakia.

Austria has seasonal weather so please do check up on best time to visit Austria before planning your tour.
