Excellent

The guys transporting us were really punctual, courteous, and kept us safe. Lino in Pompeii was fantastic! Nicola & Micaela were so hospitable and some of the best food I had in my 3 weeks in Italy was at Sant? Alfonso Agriturismo. Everybody was top-notch on this trip, however, Vincenzo was the most exceptional Tour Leader and really made the experience unforgettable! He was personable, funny, and incredibly knowledgeable on all topics (with impeccable English)! He made the tour educational, entertaining, and memorable. He went above and beyond by assisting tour group members even on his own personal time. He helped individuals with post-tour travel plans, catching the right trains, and directing them on how to mail postcards to the USA. When the group expressed interest in doing an activity together on our free day, Vincenzo orchestrated a last-minute tour of a cheese making facility and a limoncello factory. He even spent his down time taking a few of us to a restaurant in Sorrento that was less touristy and popular among the locals. We were so grateful for this experience and for the cultural humility he espoused. It was evident that solo hiking and the resulting self evaluation have garnered him much wisdom and have tailored him to be an inspiring mentor. It was special to see him in his element as he prepared us for and led us on a hike on the Amalfi Coast. When someone is doing what they love, it always shows and is a gift to others involved. By the end of the trip he felt like an old friend! We will miss his storytelling and charisma!

A wonderwalk up in the sky.

This holiday definitely maybe the perfect mix. There was challenging walking on the Path of the Gods along the beautiful Amalfi coast. Next we were off exploring the impressive historic remains of Pompeii and Herculaneum and daring the crater edge at Vesuvius. Happily immersing ourselves in the food and culture of the region, we were treated to artisan cheese making, cookery demonstrations and participation, limoncello tasting with the expert, and time to enjoy a gelato or three in the sunshine under the bluest November skies. It was even warm enough for a refreshing swim in the sea after conquering all the steps down to Amalfi and again at pretty Positano. The boat ride from Positano was a brilliant way to see all the villages from the sea. Add in glorious Ravello, its wonderful gardens and the breathtaking views from the path down to lovely Atrani, with a little Escher art tour as an added bonus to complete the picture. With our superb, expert guide Veriano and the warmest hotel staff you could wish for, our group of strangers quickly became a team of friends, laughing and singing our way through an extremely enjoyable excursion in Italy.

An unforgettable trip!

Beautiful scenic walks with rewarding views. Despite some challenging steps, it was way worth it to soak in the surroundings of the coastline. Along with great food and great company, couldn't ask for more!

Amalfi Coast — Tour Highlights and Travel Tips

Amalfi Coast Tour Highlights

  • Stop off at Capri — one of the most picturesque islands on the Amalfi Coast. It is home to unique shops and trendy bistros as well as secluded coves and the Blue Grotto, a hidden enchanted sea cave.
  • Don’t miss out on visting the ruins to Pompeii. The city was buried by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD and the ruins offer a glimpse into the treasures unearthed from the ash and what daily life was like in an average Roman town 2000 years ago.
  • Enjoy panoramic vistas of the sea from the cliff-top town of Sorrento. While there do not miss out on the magnificent Museum Correale that has an impressive collection of Neapolitan art and crafts.
  • Walk through the charming city of Naples. Full of history, museums and incredible cafes, the city is also home to world-class opera and theaters.
  • When in the quaint seaside village of Positano, head to the beach at Spiaggia Grande for the best views of both the village and the spectacular views of the sea.

Amalfi Coast Travel Tips

  • While renting a car is the most popular way to explore this side of Italy, you can also easily get around the coast via the high-speed train from any major city. The most scenic way to get around is by ferry.
  • Make Sorrento your base. From here you can easily hop on a ferry to Capri, catch the Circumvesuviana to Pompeii or take the SITA bus to any of the small seaside villages. Sorrento is connected to Naples by train or ferry, so getting luggage to and from stops is simple.
  • Book your Italy trip for either May – June or September – October for good weather and better accommodation deals. Although the weather is at its best during high season July – August, it also brings a lot of crowd. If you must visit during high season, get an early morning start to avoid the crowded ferries and buses.
  • Rent tour boat while visiting the island of Capri as it is the best way to see this amazing island. You will be taken around the island to get the best views of the gorgeous grottos, famous Faraglioni rocks and of course, the Blue Grotto. If your driver is willing, visit the blue grotto when it is “closed”, this experience will be unforgettable.
  • Don’t leave without taking home the amazing local crafts and treats to remind you of your Amalfi Coast holiday. Indulge yourself in local handmade pottery, sandals and a bottle of the famous Limoncello (lemon flavored liqueur).
  • Venture off the beaten path. Café’s and boutiques on the main streets of coastal towns are way more expensive than those hidden from view. Wander down the charming winding lanes and discover amazing places to eat and shop that are not crowded.
